Reminder: Travel is Human!
While we convene in Frankfurt to work and play with cutting-edge tech at the Lufthansa + Camino Web3 Flight Distribution Hackathon, it’s worth remembering that technological innovation is worth if it augments human connection – especially in travel, perhaps the most fundamentally human of all industries.
So, to all participating teams: use these new tech stacks not just to build clever solutions, but to enable traveler stories and meaningful biz relationships across the travel ecosystem. The sharpie welcome note on my inbound MXP-FRA flight captured exactly what I mean, thank you unknown LH flight attendant or pilot who had the idea!
For those who missed the announcement, we’re proud that Camino Network has partnered with Lufthansa Systems and Swiss International Air Lines to explore blockchain’s potential in travel distribution. We’re focusing on connectivity on Camino Messenger, digital identity, digital payment, and real-world asset (bookings in this case) tokenization to unlock new market opportunities and revenue streams. Plus, chatting the teams prior, it looks like a lot of GenAI+blockchain magic will be demonstrated on that stage on Thursday.
A warm welcome to all our participating teams: Carbify, eMind, Dohop, ISO-Gruppe, SBB CFF FFS, Unimoni, AVRA Tours, Hotelplan and of course Lufthansa: great travel + traveltech blend in the pure Camino Network spirit. Your expertise and innovative spirit will be crucial in shaping the future of travel distribution. Now let’s hack and I am looking forward to seeing what we all create together! Because, as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe famously commented on hackathons ;) “It is not enough to know, one must also apply; it is not enough to want, one must also do.” Thanks Mickael Woelcke for the perfect citation, especially here in Goethe’s own home market.
