What a great 4th meeting of the [Gen]AI Italy meetup yesterday in Milan, where I joined an A-Team of speakers by FairMind who delved deep into open-source models and architectures for GenAI, moving from theory to real-world implementation. 🔹 Alexio Cassani kicked it off with a survey on the state of the art of open models. Starting from a thought-provoking exploration of “Open… What?”, he challenged our assumptions about open-source LLMs while pressing an important point: open model training, evaluation, and deployment architectures are crucial for LLM research to move forward outside walled gardens.
